Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Carlisle?
Carlisle is a diversified manufacturing company that
serves powersports, industrial, construction,
transportation, automotive, and specialty markets.
Carlisle's products serve customers worldwide, ranging
from commercial roofing systems to custom built trailers,
from off-road tires and wheels to cable for high-tech data
communications. Carlisle is listed on the New York Stock
Exchange under the symbol CSL.
Why is the Carlisle the name on my Ultimax Belt?
In August of 2001, Carlisle Companies, Inc. purchased the
Dayco Industrial Division (DID). The new company is called
Carlisle Power Transmission. The acquisition by Carlisle
included the industrial, agricultural, lawn & garden and
recreational markets that DID served.
Among the recreational products acquired by Carlisle Power
Transmission were the snowmobile belts that are produced
for major OEM snowmobile manufacturers as well as the
aftermarket snowmobile belts, Incredible Max and Ultimax.
What about Dayco belts?
Dayco has divested itself of all the industrial markets it
once served. Dayco now exists primarily as an automotive
company. Dayco does continue to produce a snowmobile belt
(HP & HPX) which is sold through automotive distribution
channels.
Carlisle Power Transmission produces the new Ultimax XS, Ultimax 3 and
Max 2 snowmobile belts and is the major supplier of
original equipment ATV and snowmobile belts. The
snowmobile research and development team and belt
manufacturing facilities are now part of Carlisle.
The Carlisle Commitment
Carlisle will continue to support the sport and is a major
sponsor of snowmobile races and events. Carlisle stands
behind its products and offers a one year warranty on all
snowmobile drive belts. Carlisle will continue to make its premium products
of Ultimax XS, Ultimax 3 and Max 2 available through powersports
dealers.
Why do you no longer publish
the Outside Circumference and Top Width dimensions for
snowmobile belts?
Critical dimensions include (C.D.) Center Distance and
Angle for a given application. This is not to be confused
with the center distance of the Primary and the Secondary
sheaves on a machine. Publishing the (O.C.) Outside
Circumference and the (T.W.) Top Width is misleading as
neither of these dimensions are the same from one belt
manufacturer to another based on proprietary information.
Carlisle measures belts to center distance and ride-out
under a prescribed tension around fixed diameter pulleys
on precision measuring equipment. This method produces
consistent product for the application and has nothing to
do with O.C. and T.W. We no longer provide dimensional
information because it is more misleading than helpful.
Do you have a warranty
Carlisle offers a one year
warranty on all snowmobile belts. Please be sure to complete the information found
on the back of the belt sleeve and include the failed
belt, a check or money order for $10.00 US or $10.00 CDN to
cover postage and handling as well as proof of purchase
(sales receipt or dealer invoice). Ship to Carlisle

Does it make a difference
which direction you install a snowmobile belt?
It doesn't matter which way you install the belt the first
time, but it is important to keep the belt installed the
same direction throughout the life of the belt.
