"Final Results of Carlisle Sponsored CSRA SnowCross Championships"

Orillia, Ontario - April 13, 2004 - Horseshoe Valley Resort near Orillia, Ontario was the final destination for the 2004 Extreme Sports CSRA National and Regional Snocross Tour. Enthusiastic crowds under sunny skies thrilled to see Canada’s best snocross racers battle to the finish for Canada’s top honours in snowmobile racing.

The Pro Open #1 plate - the CSRA’s most prestigious annual award - was still up for grabs coming into the final round this weekend. Noel Kohanski (Evinrude/Ski-Doo/Supertrax) was leading Earl Reimer (Blair Morgan Racing/Ski-Doo) by a slim margin. So slim, if Reimer won the final round and Kohanski did not score at least a sixth - Reimer would prevail. When the green flag dropped Reimer pulled a commanding holeshot rocketing into the lead. In what seemed like a script for a movie - Kohanski appeared in sixth! Tensions ran high at the base of the huge ski hill as Kohanski’s team signaled him to move up. Suddenly, Reimer bobbled and bailed allowing Quebec’s Karl Allard (Ski-Doo) to take over the lead. Reimer remounted in second and then bailed huge allowing Kohanski to pass and run in fourth. Mike VanDolder (Factory Recreation/Royal Distributing/Ski-Doo) moved into second and Reimer remounted in seventh. Kohanski continued to ride like a man on a mission while Reimer struggled to move back up. When the white flag came out it looked like Kohanski had nailed the Championship when suddenly he lost power. As the sled inched to the finish Reimer passed Kohanski but the Evinrude/Supertrax/Ski-Doo had enough left to pull itself across the finish line - immediately behind Reimer for fourth and the CSRA Pro Open Championship. The Top Five CSRA Pro riders for the 2004 season are as follows: 1st Noel Kohanski, 2nd Earl Reimer, 3rd Michael Vandolder, 4th A.J. Lester, 5th Michael Morrow.

The CSRA’s Pro 440 National class was all but tied up going into the weekend by Noel Kohanski (Evinrude/Ski-Doo/Supertrax). Kohanski only needed to qualify for the 440 Pro Final and take the green flag to win the national title. Racing in the final saw two spoilers from Quebec influence the outcome. Dave Allard (Ski-Doo) pulled a huge holeshot which turned into a massive lead at the finish. Mike Larmand (Factory Recreation/Royal Distributing/Ski-Doo) nailed an equally impressive launch which left him uncontested to the finish in second while Karl Allard (Team Arctic) moved into third by the checkers. The anticipated battle between Earl Reimer (Blair Morgan Racing/Ski-Doo) and Noel Kohanski (Evinrude/Ski-doo/Supertrax) never materialized with Kohanski unloading unceremoniously in the early going and damaging his throttle and Reimer cartwheeling and retiring with an injured wrist. The Top Five in the CSRA Pro 440 class for the 2004 season are as follows: 1st Noel Kohanski, 2nd Michael Morrow, 3rd Mike Larmand, 4th Michael VanDolder, 5th Andrew Sloot.

CSRA National Semi-Pro racing was intense to the very finish of both National Classes.

CSRA National Semi-Pro Open was decided before the green flag dropped with Dale Brooks (Team Vincent/Ski-Doo) already having nailed the title after only four rounds. Brooks was not expected to race this weekend while recovering from a serious injury to his back. To the amazement of everyone, Brooks not only qualified for the Semi Pro Open Final he ran well and placed 8th. Ryan Kenney (Blair Morgan Racing/Ski-Doo) ran a wire-to-wire victory in the final race with Matt Turner (Evinrude/Ski-Doo/Supertrax) in second followed by Branden Wirtanen (Ski-Doo). The Top Three in the CSRA Semi-Pro Open Class for the 2004 season are as follows: 1st Dale Brooks, 2nd Matt Turner, 3rd Branden Wirtanen.

The CSRA Semi-Pro 440 National Championship was still up for grabs when the pack left the line and headed up the one third mile drag strip. While Dale Brooks (Team Vincent) was in the points lead he still needed to finish within seven places of Matt Turner (Evinrude/Ski-Doo/Supertrax) to take the title. Lee Butler (Team OTSSF/Team Arctic) pulled an amazing holeshot which was uncontested to the finish. Turner, knowing he needed to run up front did just that riding to the finish in second with Quebec’s Mathieu Morin (Ski-Doo) in third. Brooks rode amazing scoring a solid seventh at the checkers and preserving his lead for the 440 title. The Top Three in the CSRA Semi-Pro 440 Class for the 2004 season are as follows: 1st Dale Brooks, 2nd Matt Turner, 3rd Kyle Cosgrove.

The CSRA’s National Pro Womens Class was settled at the Ryde FX Championships awarding the championship Plate to Angela Vacchino (Team OTSSF/Team Arctic Cat). Vacchino won the final round with MJ Thompson (Team Northland/Ski-Doo) second and Stacey Orr (Team Kodiak/Ski-Doo) in third. The Top Three in the CSRA Semi-Pro/Pro Women’s National class for the 2004 season are as follows: 1st Angela Vacchino, 2nd Linsay Neal, 3rd MJ Thompson.
