Aspen,
CO - January 22, 2009 - Congratulations to Joe
Parsons for winning two gold medals at Winter X Games
13. Joe nudged past defending champion Levi LaVallee in
the finals of the Speed and Style event to win the first
gold medal of the 2009 Games. Joe was riding a Ski-Doo
powered by an Ultimax drive belt. Joe’s been using
Ultimax for years and trusts only one belt when he’s on
the track, on the trail or soaring freestyle.
Joe took second in the seeding session, flew past
Sam Rogers in the quarters, and barely came out
on top in the semis versus Corey Davis. In the
finals, Joe laid down some difficult moves
during his style routine to edge LaVallee in a
tight battle for the gold. His bold run in the
finals included two flip variations under
pressure: a superflip and a no hander
Joe also won gold in the Freestyle on Sunday
night. Joe narrowly beat his buddy Heath Frisbee
in the semifinals and then scored an impressive
93.66 to take gold from Justin Hoyer in the
final.
Parsons, the sport's emerging golden boy from
Yakima, Washington, turned 21 at the games.
Congratulations and Happy Birthday Joe, from
your friends at Ultimax Belts.
