Dayton,
OH - January 22, 2003 - 30,000 snowmobile fanatics converged upon Eagle River Wisconsin from January 11th to the 19th for the 40th annual world championship snowmobile derby. Carlisle-the acknowledged leader in snowmobile belts-was a major sponsor, following a tradition that began more than 20 years ago.
Oval speedsters and high flying sno-cross pilots competed in the granddaddy of all snowmobile races. P.J. Wandersheid, 19, of Sauk Centre Minnesota won the world title race on an Arctic Cat. After chasing his teammate for most of the race, P.J. ducked low in the third turn of lap 23, grabbed the lead and held on to win his second straight world title.
| Tucker Hibbert, of Goodridge Minnesota, showed why he's the defending sno-cross champion by sweeping the pro events, including the Carlisle sponsored Pro 440. Hibbert said, "it's the best course I've ever seen and I'm just glad I could be here." The toughest obstacle on the course is known as the "Carlisle Snow Table" and was a crowd favorite as racers soared in the event sanctioned by the World Snowmobile Association. |

As the leader in snowmobile belts, Carlisle is dedicated not only to the product, but also to the sport. Carlisle continues to work closely with sled manufacturers to develop the belts that will go on next year's bigger and stronger sleds.
The typical snowmobile rider may not reach the extremes experienced by their racing counterparts, but the typical snowmobiler isn't just out for a Sunday drive, either. That's why manufacturers, world champion racers, and enthusiasts alike, choose to rely on Carlisle snowmobile belts.
